Usage Guide

The UDCast app recognizes vocal information received through your device’s microphone, and displays captions and sign-language interpretation on your device’s screen. It can also output voice guidance through your device’s earphones.

Step 1
Confirm that your device is working correctly.

Step 2
Download the data you need(voice guidance, captions, or sign-language interpretation).

Step 3
Start UDCast.

Step 1
Confirm that the app is working correctly on your device.

Use the test tone to confirm that your device is running correctly. If using voice guidance, be sure to listen for confirmation through your earphones.

1.At your device, open the top UDCast page and select Test.
2.At a second device, open the test page (https://youtu.be/H4xDv08hfAkLinkIcon).
3.Play the test tone from the test page.
4.When the application on your device detects the test tone, it will display a Running OK screen and will also play a Running OK vocal message through your earphones.

If you do not receive the Running OK message…
・Be sure that nothing is blocking the microphone on your device.
・Note that some Android versions may not be supported.

Step 2
Download the assistance data you need (voice guidance, captions, or sign-language interpretation).

Download the assistance data you need (voice data, captions, or sign-language interpretation) from the Internet.
Note that an internet connection is required to download the data.

1.Start UDCast on your device.
2.At the initial screen, select Movie or Video.
3.Select the appropriate upper tab: Voice Guide, Captions, or Sign.
4.Select the appropriate lower tab: Theater, DVD/Blu-ray, or Other.
5.Select the title of the work.
6.The device begins downloading the corresponding assistance data.

Step 3

Start UDCast.
Now you are ready to use the assistance you downloaded. No internet connection is required.
1.Select the desired downloaded data (voice guidance, captions, or sign). If using voice guidance, please use earphones.
2.The caption or sign-language standby screen appears, or a “stand by” voice message is played through the earphones.
3.Assistance (vocal, caption, or sign) begins when the movie starts.

Please Note…
・Your device’s display will not show the video itself. (It only shows the captions or signing.)
・If using voice guidance, please listen through earphones, Note that your earphones (or headphones) may not work correctly if they include a built-in microphone
・If running this app in a movie theater or other setting where mobile phone use is not permitted, set your device to “flight mode.”
